A Theater Near You: Exploring The LA Theater Scene
by Joanne Lindsay on March 27, 2012In a town that prides itself on being the entertainment capital of the world, one of the most enduring forms of entertainment in human history still flies under the radar in the City of Angels: the theater.
It may not have the glitz and glamour of a Hollywood blockbuster or the salaciousness of watching the Kardashians go shopping on TV, but there is something inherently enveloping about seeing a play in person. There is no big screen flattening the action and there are no special glasses needed to catapult you into their world. Plus there is the added excitement of knowing that anything can, and often does, happen in a live theater setting. An actor can flub his lines, a set piece could fall over, dancers could collide into each other. There are no do-overs, no reshoots, no second chances. In the theater, just as in life, the show must always go on.
